How come none of the handicapping software offered here support DRF data downloads? Is it because the Daily Racing Form doesn't allow it?

CJ's program uses (or at least once used) DRF downloads as well as BRIS/TSN/Procaps.

DRF is a relative newcomer to the data file end of the business, I understand that it doesn't lend itself easily to programmers (compared to BRIS and company), and they probably don't actively recruit third-party software vendors like PTD and TM do.

Is CJ the person that operates pacefigures.com? I'd like to know more about his figures. What's the methodology behind them? Does he apply a variant to his figures?

For those of you that got directed here by the PaceAdvantage archives (circe 2006):

The data service:

http://www.jdca-racing.com/thoroughbred_horse_racing_products_data.htm
is out of business.

The Go Pony DRF Normalizer is obsolete and no longer will process DRF charts.

I need to test my betting system against real world racing payoffs.

I decided to use the DRF Charts as the basis for my payoff history data.

I quickly learned that the DRF Charts do not follow the formatting standards for convential .CVS (comma-delimited data) files.

This was discussed on this forum in 2006, and can be found in the PaceAvantage archives for that period.

An entity called Go Pony offered a freeware program called "DRF Chart Data Normalizer" that would reform the DRF format of that era into usable comma-delimited data files. It is now obsolete - doesn't work on more modern files, throws an error.

I am programming my own updated PC utility program to "Normalize" these DRF files. When my program is finished, I intend to down-load a lot of recent DRF charts, nornalize them, filter the data and feed the processed data into my Excel spread-sheet to prove or disprove my new betting system.

If anyone would like to assist me in this effort, or share the tools that I am developing, please B-Mail me here at the PaceAdvanage forum.

And, no, I will not share my theoretical betting system with others if it works. If I can disprove it, then I will post the details here.

Sorry that the formatting of the data in the previous post was so screwed up.

I spend several hours fighting the forum's reformatting.

Attached is a clean .TXT file that has the same info as the last post, but in a much more readable form.

These are the results of my month-long study of betting superfectas using partial-wheels in thoroughbred races.
The intent is to discover a way to profitably cover certain subsets of all possible superfecta combinations using
dime superfecta paratial-wheels.

The short answer is - it doesn't work.

If you want the long answer, read on:

The top four favorites are designated with an 'F'.
The remaining non-favorites are designated with an 'N'.

I organized the superfecta (SF) races by the number of favorites bet:

Partial wheels using all four favorites are designated (F4), three favorites and N designated (F3) and so on.
These SF cobinations would look like this:

F4 One Combination: F-F-F-F
F3 four combinations: F-F-F-N, F-F-N-F, F-N-F-F, N-F-F-F
F2 sixteen combinations:F-F-N-N, ...
F1 four combinations: F-N-N-N, ...
F0 one combination: N-N-N-N

Partial-wheels (dime SFs) costs for a race with eight starters:

F4:$ 2.40
F3:$38.40
F2:$86.40 (864 dime bets)
F1:$38.40
F0:$ 2.40

Note that as the number of starters increases, N becomes larger, and so do the costs:

Partial-wheels (dime SFs) costs for a race with 11 starters:

F4:$ 2.40
F3:$ 67.20
F2:$302.40
F1:$336.00
F0:$ 84.00

"Data Points" represent the total number of races with "Starters" number of starters.
"Points" is the number of races available for that number of "Starters" and of classification "Class".
The "Average Payoff" is a total of all payoffs for that classification (Fx), divided by that number of races.

Average payoff doesn't mean squat - you lose a lot. How much? -
"Points" divided by "Data Points" is represented by "Percentage".

So "Adjusted Payoff" is how much you win on EACH RACE BET on the average ("Average Payoff" times "Percentage").

Now for the disappointing part - remember, for each "Adjusted Payoff", you purchased a partial wheel so:
"Profit" represents "Adjusted Payoff" minus bet cost (not shown).

Now you can understand the results:
