Maybe it was the post by John Del Riccio on Levines barn
getting horses tested or the barn itself winning at an unheard of clip and then an article in DRF on the testing of his horses. The 1 horse Devil House trained by Levine breaks on top, no one challenges her at all and she walks home winning by 10 lengths. I watched this horse in the paddock and it seemed a bit nervous. Due to the long post I continued to watch the 1 horse and she seemed a lot more excited then the rest of the field. After the race I looked at my program and still didnt see how this horse even fit the race distance losing two similar races by double digit lengths as a 3 year old and winning at Aqueduct on January 24th with CC Lopez wire to wire. She comes back and stretches out to a 1 1/16th mile race on 3-6-08 and in that race she has company from the start and finishes 4th by 15 lengths. I know I am reaching here but whatever they gave this horse today woke it up bigtime. How do you go out and get clobbered in similar races, win short wire to wire lose 2 AP races(2007) at the same distance as today by a combined 30 lengths and win that easily today? Am I missing something with this horse? The trainer is winning at a 50% win clip, any comments?

thsi man is a perfectionist. he knows how to win, i know a few others just like hom, try LOUIS RUBERTO at the mountain, or LARRY JONES @ deleware. or KEN MCPEAK @churhill. they only put in horses that are as close to 100% healthy as they can get them. tehy will wait till the horse is tearing down the barn before they enter.,

teh next question to be asked is can you afford these guys, that answer is NO.
you will not make one red penny with them. if levine wins a race, he gets his 10% and 4% barnstake. your vet bills never stop, and shipping will kill you.

ask him how your horse is doing, he will tell you ok, ask him if he thinks you can win the race he put you in, he will tell you he doesn't knwo if he can beat a couple of horses in the race. after the horse wins by 12 lengths you ask him how did he win so easy, he willl tell you it was just his day!
let me tell you this, when this guy puts a horse in the race there is no guesswork in his mind. he is not the least bit interested in running second

i have made money with lesser trainers, and never with a movie star.

I dont find anything special about this guy, drop downs for Repole two or three times a week? This horse Devil House just looked like a totally different horse. If you have race replays go check out some of the past races and tell me as a handicapper you would of ever thought she had a chance. The 10% win thru 5th is standard for any trainer and the 4% barn stake is a Contessa thing that Levine uses. Shipping? I ship throughout the eastcoast and the last time I looked none of the trucks had Levines name on them. I dont think we have heard the last of his horses being tested, I just wonder if the people testing them know what they are looking for!

i don't think levine trained this horse in 2007 (?) and the limit stakes (beaten 15 lengths) featured a fast and pressured pace.

after they scratched half the field i just turned the page on that one....

levine has figured out how to win at the game by working within or around the rules of the game. when you have 5 horses for every class at the racetrack it makes it easy. when you have owners that only want wins, don't care about dropping horses down to get wins, you could get the same results as levine.
as far as a horseplayer goes, you are going to have the worst of it trying to bet those races he is involved in. his mutual price will be lower than a good trainer like tony wilson, or eddie broome.

take a look at levine's owners, repole sold vidamint to coca cola for $6 billion, that is billion with a b. meadowlake is the guy from barnes and nobles. i think rody valente has something to do with casino's. maggi moss is trying to make a name for herself in the horse business. all these people got nothing better to do with their money than give it to bruce levine. don't blame bruce levine, he figured out how to provide these people with their entertainment and get all the money he can out of them.

another thing you should look at before you prononce bruce levine a cheater. these same owners he has win with other trainers. last i looked repole has about 12 different trainers, maggi moss 20 different ones, valente 6 or 7. these owners want to play the game the way bruce levine plays it, or any others like him. take a look at kathleen demasi, she never used to win a race, not she is in the high teens since she has had repole, same thing with david geist.

in this game if you think someone is jamming horses down your throat you can go into the claim box and take the horse to your favorite barn.

Many of the names you mentioned do well on the claimers, the point I brought up on several other threads on this topic is that some of these owners dont care if they lose a few grand on a horse as long as it wins. The drop downs are a way to get the trainer to the top quickly, but you still have to have decent horses and he does. I was pointing out the fact Devil House has done nothing, maybe she didnt like the inner going long at Aqueduct but to go out and beat this field by 10 of accomplished runners is pretty freakish.

are you saying that levine has the off and on switch with that horse?

Thats a good question, he took the horse over from Terry gestes in January 2008, he had her in similar races to this one and she didnt respond, I read where Centeno said he went to the front because no one else wanted to go. No one challenged this horse at all so maybe the clean front end ride is what she needed like the race on 1-24-08 where she was challenged in the last 50 yards and just held on. But that was at 6f, not a 2 turn race.

how good levine is or isn't by the end of saratoga. he has a bunch of high priced 2 yo's in his barn. i haven't seen one of them start as of yet in eithe new york or monmouth. as you very well know there aren't to many tricks you can play with babies. they all have some type of abitlty, it is just a question if you can teach them to use it in the right way

You hit that one right between the eyes, the 2yo's are the most fun to play and watch and own! This is only our 2nd year owning 2yo's so I am still learning this group.
