How do you turn off the auto date aspect of a cell. If I type 7-8 it turns into
8-Jul. There must be a way to disable this feature. Thanks in advance.

Format the cell, row, column....whatever, into general or text, or numbes, whatever you want to use for inputs.

Select a cell or range, right click and select Format Cells.

I have tried that but it is still there. I have Excel 2002. Not the end of the world. If I put an * in front it doesn't convert to date and will work for my needs. Thanks

Insert new row or collum, then format.

Other suggestion copy a cell that has no format, or the prefered format to that row or collum.

Here's another way.....sue the little paintbrush to "paint" the format of one cell into another. Be in the cell you want to copy the format from (44.9 here)
then go click on the paintbrush, now go to the cell or cells you want to copy the format to. Just move your cursor to the new cell, or select a range of cells, and the format will be copied for you.

LoL Tom, I like your teaching technique! The "little paintbrush" is named the "format painter", as you, of course, already know. Helps to read some of the "help" files sometimes, too.
