Ramon Flores

Those of you who play HOU are probably familiar with Ramon Flores, an up and coming trainer there the last few years. He was killed the other day driving to Sunland. Story on HOU web site:

This is so incredibly sad. My sympathies and thoughts to all touched by this loss.

You get used to seeing the names in the pp's and watching the win percentages go up and down...get familiar with their horses and what jockeys they like to use...and then something like this happens... Really sad, puts everything in perspective.

Ramon was definitely one of the young "good guys". He always helped us with Groom Elite classes, translating sometimes, assisting on assessment day and letting us use his stable pony or even a racehorse or two for teaching. He was willing to answer questions during interviews and always spoke a friendly word when passing in the grandstand or in our stable area. Sam Houston is having a memorial service for Ramon in the Counter Seat area of Club Level from 12 noon to 1 today (Saturday. March 1)
