is that a high profile trainer had his barn investigated by the state vets and all his horses have had blood tests drawn.

Jim,

Nope...I have made a concious choice to do it the right way. Its so much sweeter when you get th ejob done but it certainly stings when you get beat by
someone who doesn't.

I have heard this too. Heard Feds involved, too.

Wow, I can't wait to hear. Who are the biggest trainers at Monmouth? I'll be so glad when this drugging and cheating stops; its been one of the biggest reasons why I haven't been handicapping the past few years.

Interesting.....very interesting.

Breen or Shuman? ;)

Kelly is a solid trainer he has 95% 2yo's and he is not a game player when it comes to this sort of thing. I dont know about Shuman at all. Lets just wait for the story to break, and find out if someone really did anything wrong.

Shuman's been pretty clean since he stopped training for Mike Gill, hasn't he? I'll bet it's Dutrow.

Taking blood samples from a barn full of horses doesnt necessarily mean someone did anything wrong. Let the story unfold and lets stop speculating on who it may be. Innocent until proven guilty.

Unfortunately with the state of this sport, "innocent til proven guilty" is more likely to be superceded by "where there's smoke, there's fire!"

There's no holding barn at Monmouth, correct?

That's for juries....we can assume guilty until proven innocent, and then we can still doubt it. We have that right - we pay for the game.

There is a detention barn.

5 horses entered, 1 scratch, 1 lucky second and 3 off the board. now that's a dent into a 57% winning machine!
ramon better start feeding his horses the right stuff to get that win pecentage back up.

Agreed. Quiet around the Levine barn this morning.

Looks like another rumor that was played out a little further than it should have been

I wonder if this is the same as what John first raised. I heard the rumor last weekend, and the article says blood drawn from Levine barn on Tuesday. We'll see.

I dont have the exact figures but the drop-down win % has to be huge for this trainer this year.

Don't most barns go cold when they get a positve or are under more intense surveillance?

That is only true IF you believe the statement that was released.

There is no reason not to believe it. No one has been accused of any wrongdoings. As I stated, Levine has dropped down a lot of claimers, he has won a lot of those races with Repole Stables. As long as he has an owner willing to help him win the title and not care about losing money on drop-downs its a lethal combination.

I wonder what would happen if they surprised Catalano's barn at Arlington?
I love the stranglehold Fires has to take on a lot of his horses during the early stages of the races....looks just like every other horse in the race ;)

I was thinking....could you just give a horse some Red Bull before a race?
Combined with interval training-who knows.

Probably posted elsewhere, but since this was the original thread, let's post the results here and not play like the New York Times.

According to the NJ Racing Commission- the results came back clean.

If you knew anything about Catalano, you would understand how he win's at the percentage's he does, and not lump him with many needle using barn managers.

It's called hard work in the barn, he also works many of his good horses, and he pays attention to many details that other trainer don't even know you should pay attention too. He also installed a hyperbaric chamber at his farm outside Chicago. Calabrase would fire him, but he can't stand loosing, which is what he does everytime he decides to leave.
