Picks for Belmont Saturday:
R1 - #6 Holy Canyon-Definitely not the soundest of runners, but he drops into a field of runners of questionable soundness also. Should dominate these at a low price.
R2 -#4 Rock Lobster-Half his wins come on the BEL turf course. His only two sprint runs were good efforts, including his maiden breaker. Taking a shot at a price here.
R3 -#3 Alexandros-Was an easy second against the posttime favorite in last. Catches a paceless field here and might inherit the lead. Low price expected.
R4 -#4 All About-Sports a steady worktab for his return to the claiming ranks. Definitely the speed of the speed here, he should be able to establish a clear lead early.
R5 -#1 Yield Bogey-Had a troubled trip in debut. Nice drill since, clean trip may move him up.
R6 -#5 Bishops Creek-First try against maiden claimers was a troubled trip. I have knocks against most of the others here.
R7 -#2 Senor Enrico-Newly aquired runner makes first start for current connections. His best fig comes on this turf course, so he should make some impact in this one.
R8 -#9 Tam Lin-Decent European runner caught yielding surfaces in first two stateside races. Should contend here if he moves forward.
R9 -#3 Moon Catcher-Had her two preps, should be set to upset the ML fav here.
R10 #5 Seven in a Row-Bred for turf, her turf fig isn't that much off these. She had trouble in her turf debut, and may do better sprinting here at a price.
