Thanks for posting that. Much better to read a well-thought out opinion rather than the blame-barrage we have seen since 6:32PM on Saturday.

In short, the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin is between 300,000 and 400,000. What's missing from all that exegesis and overanalysis is the bit of needed context that if one scrutinizes the trip of just about ANY horse to that ridiculous extent, save perhaps for a frontrunner on an open lead, one can and will find similar mishaps, miscues and missed cues.

I thought the "fog of war" theme summed it up pretty nicely...just my opinion...

Dead-on analysis. Thanks for posting this. Having read it through, following the accurate sequence of events, I was impressed by the clarity and LACK OF BLAME by the writer. At the end, I saw the author's name - the very astute Dick Powell, whom I have met many times. Well done, Dick!

How'd you like to have him call you every morning and go over the card with you? ;) He should stop doing the capsule comments in DRF.

Very well written and fair article.
