As a Piesen has written:
Please...will someone (anyone) explain the Beyer numbers to me.

How does Da' Tara get a 99 (incidentally the lowest Belmont Stakes-winning Beyer in history), while Delosvientos gets a 107 in winning the Brooklyn Handicap the previous day?

The last I looked, Da' Tara got the mile and a half in 2:29 3/5, whereas Delosvientos went a second-plus slower (2:30 4/5).

Both horses went wire to wire. Both won by decisive margins.

Beats me.

Hmmm I wonder too?

The beyer figure is incorrect. Hopefully we can get a good price on Da'Tara next time also.

You can't compare races run on different days to each other most times. The track was MUCH slower on Friday than it was on Saturday. I am much more inclined to believe the Belmont number than I am the Brooklyn number. That one seems too high to me.

Well true track was faster Belmont day, always is. But yeah maybe it's 107 Beyer wrong for Brooklyn Handicap.

Who would have guessed that John Piesen doesn't understand speed figures?

Could be a glitch on his self appointed legendary status.
