Now if favorites wins about 30% that means 70% for the remaing field right? First of all how many horses are the favorites what odds decide that? example after 3-1 does a horse become a longshot?
Now out of the remaing 70% what is the % of the second group of favorites say the 5-1 to 10-1 and the last being 15-1 and higher. This wasnt easy for me to explain I`m sure its harder to understand but I know some one will..jp

When people say, "the favorite" or "the second favorite" they are referring to their rank in the odds, not the odds themselves. So there is one favorite in every race -- the horse with the lowest odds, whatever they may be.

The top favorite wins about 1/3 of the races, one of the top three favorites win about 2/3 of the races....

Well I never knew that How the hell could I played all these years and not know that. I thought the fav wins 30% and the rest of the field makes up the 70% not the top three favorites.
Are you sure?

hey joe..maybe you misunderstood GT.
33% (actually I think it's like 32.8%) of the odds on fav wins. That is the lowest odds at post
31.2 % of the #1 ranked MLO wins.(higher(I've seen 40%) in places like NY)

The rest of the races are won by the 70% or so that are left. What GT is saying is 66% of the races are won by the top 3 favs leaving 33% of the races won by horses that are not 1-2-3 fav at post.

Hurrikane,

Who wins the other 1%? <G>

After all, the thread was "Math Problem."

Just kidding.

Dave

At GP, the answer is, all the horses NOT owned by Roger Gill win the other 1%.

I am sure all Tom's winners pay over $200 to win, so he is doing just fine.

I guess someone had to do it Dave.

As for hurricane. girlfriend calls me that. has something to do with my lifestyle.
Or maybe that it all ways seems that an 80 mph wind is blowing up my ass.

I live just outside DC. Key West sound real good right now!

As for the 'k'. I'm sure most think it is the lack of importance I put on spelling. Not so. It is actually because there a lot of 'hurricanes' on line. This way I can use the same login everywhere.
That way I won't be accussed of using an alias. (what?) :D
