Tale of Ekati's throat surgery?

I can't tell by the info in DRF. com but even minor throat surgery 2 weeks before the Belmont? Boy did they keep this a secret or was I jsut not paying attention?

It's supposed to be HOT on Sat in NY and it's a long race.
