I was a nervous wreck the night and day of that Belmont Stakes. He was a horse I was on from the beginning when he romped in the PA Nursery. And I really wanted him to win. I did not even enjoy the day to much.

I feel better about this one, more relaxed and calm. Im rooting foir him, but even if came up short it won't be worse then SJ. That was a brutal loss.I will enjoy this afternoon more.

I assume he's referring to Smarty Jones (SJ).

Stevie B thanks for your prerace writes, enjoy.

After the Nursery told my wife to write that horse's name down(SJ) he's a freak.(PHA).

I didn't have a good feeling on Smarty's Belmont day.The weather didn't help, nor did my faith in Stewart Elliot's lack of experience over the surface.

I actually feel very at ease about this one.

I was wired (nervous) for the Preakness because of the pressure of Eight Belles freak breakdown in the KD,...........this is an aftermath.

My wishes are that every Belmont entrant returns to their stall for a fine dinner feast.

My bet...... $2 win ticket on Big Brown.(not for sale..... Priceless.)

I actually hoped it did rain on the Belmont after I thought about it. Birdstone did not care for an off track and Smarty Jones already won over won.

It will exciting. Hope everything stays good. At first was not going to go because of the long wait to get on a train, but I buckled and bought a pair on Ebay. It just won't be as exciting watching anywhere else.

Yea...The Funny Cide Belmont was heavy rain throughout. I felt indifferent about that obe and I had a big win play on Empire Maker. I was undercover, so the seats were pretty good. So I guess you can say I rooted against it.

The Smarty Belmont was lousy, windy and about 57. I burnt my coast trying to iron it. The day was a mess form the start. And I woke with a sore throat.

Exactly Steve , I'm an old-timer ,not a big advocate of karma , but I didn't feel it that day.

I am a bundle:faint: of nerves...and I can't help it!!! Like Stevie B, my heart is set on one thing...and hope to hell it doesn't end up like the Smarty Party that never was:(

Read through dozens of posts here today...wish I had more time to get in on some of them, but I have a ton of stuff to do before tomorrow...because tomorrow I'll be glued to the TV. Watching all the pre Belmont stuff, including some great races...hope they show the Charlie W and that Lava Man  wins big time...can't see Indian Blessing  getting beat in the Acorn...
I hope they don't have to scratch Casino Drive...PA...I ain't affraid of him anymore...in fact, I ain't affraid of any horse in the gate...Big Brown is going to win the Triple Crown, and the celebration in the winners circle is going to be outstanding...Dutrow will cry tears of joy, and like him or not...I think everyone should enjoy the show...

Anyway...the last 3 weeks have been a blast here on the board...so many opinions, points of view, good takes, bad takes...I think between all of us here, we've covered every base...
now it's up to 'Fate'...will the racing gods give us what we want, will Big Brown make history...yes, yes, yes!!!

My heart is set and the only other thing I'd wish for is to be there, at my old Belmont Park, in my old barn #2... to be able to touch the one that will give everyone the thrill of a lifetime...to witness some thing very, very special...
may they all come back safe, may the day be perfect, may all your bets pay off, and if you hear a far off voice yelling " Go, BABE, GO...that'll be me!!

Good luck Big Brown... may you wear your crown like a king!!

Heard Eddie Arcaro tell a story about Citation (who was as big a favorite as the current one). "All you have to do is NOT fall off," was the instruction so what happened? The colt promptly stumbled coming out of the gate and almost tossed him.

"Nothing is a sure thing," he said.
