US in Iraq suffers worst loss in a month, truck bomb rocks Baghdad

By Amal Jayasinghe / AFP

BAGHDAD - A suicide bomb rocked Baghdad on Wednesday, killing 15 people, while US troops suffered their biggest single loss in a month, bringing to an end a relative lull in violence, officials said.

A powerful truck bomb in the capital targeted the home of a senior police officer coordinating security operations with the military in the capital of six million people, police said.

Fifteen people were killed, including the officer's nephew. At least 65 more were wounded, with three of them being relatives of the intended target. The victims were rushed to two hospitals in central Baghdad.

They WILL stop.

You seem to think if you are emphatic enough, it makes something true. But my emphatic remark has canceled out yours. The psychic balance of the world has been restored, and it may go on spinning now.

Invade a country, keep an occupying army there and WHO do you think the locals will go after?

Spain invades same place, who do you think the locals would go after on their sovereign soil? Not Latvians.

If your country was invaded and occupied you would do the same thing as these people.

Who says they are the locals? Many locals want us there and are helping us help them. One little girls, brought here by soldiers, sees light and movement today, for the first time in her life. Her family risked thier lives to help us rid the country of the terrorisits/insurrgents. our evil corporate community footed the bill, including a second major surgey when retena problems were discovered during her first operation the other day. Not uncommon.
The Iraqi's are moving forward, taking over more and moreof the control of the country. They want and need our help.

Those who want us out, I liken to you, sitting home wacking out hate-mails to horse forums.

not before we do oh-be-wan.

like the old market saying, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay funded.

The best thing that has happened to Iran in decades so far is this war.

Who do you think is appeasing now?

Why Al-maliki, him and Achmed are bossom buddies.

Well at least that wish comes from an obvious expert on the subject of smoke up there.

Must be a tad uncomfortable to never evacuate all of it.

From the same article posted by zil:

Overall, US troops last month saw their lowest level of losses since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. The number killed in May dropped to 19, with the previous low being in February 2004, when 20 died.
Iraqi security authorities also reported a 50 percent decline in the number of Iraqi nationals killed last month to 563 from April. The number of Iraqis wounded last month was also down to 1,003 from 2,008 in April.

US military authorities had said that the decline in violence was due to stepped up operations against militia and insurgents, but that Al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives still had the ability to stage spectacular strikes.

Thanks, for posting some more of the same article PA. Zilly, like our mainstream Pravda press, only reports the negatives.
