Early reports said Stronach/Magna/SA did not want the SA cushion to be exactly the same as Hollywood's- now they are claiming the opposite, and early reports did not indicate they wanted the whole thing redone.
But as far as I know the old track supervisor has not spoken publicly yet.
IMO the new lawsuit is sour grapes because everybody just wanted a quick fix including the track.

Santa Anita to Flood Synthetic Track (http://sports.excite.com/news/05232008/v0013.html)

May 23, 4:11 PM (ET)

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -Santa Anita's synthetic racing surface will be flooded over two days next week as one of the final tests before management decides the future of the surface.

Has anyone seen a report on the results of this flood test?

They should have installed Dickinson's Tapeta surface. Towers over the other
poly's after seeing GG and Pid.

I pray to goodness if Nyra goes the synthetic route that this stuff is used

I read somewhere that they cancelled the flood test, and have now decided to replace the asphalt base

Thanks PC. Here's the latest info I could find on the subject. Maybe we'll get a report on this over the weekend. I will post what I can find out when we get more info.

Santa Anita to keep current surface (http://www.drf.com/news/article/94859.html)

By STEVE ANDERSEN

'On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the surface will be extensively watered to simulate the effects of a three- to four-inch rainstorm. Training will be canceled on Thursday and possibly Friday. The tests, which had been planned for months, will help determine the proper mixture of wax, sand, fiber and other material that make up the track.'
'Ian Pearse of Melbourne, Australia, the founder of Pro-Ride, will be at Santa Anita to participate in the tests, Charles said.'

Took them awhile but it makes sense after the debacle of the weird track.

I agree with RichieP...seems the Tapeta surface has been excellent and has passed every test...I also beleive the Pro Ride they use in Australia is an excellent surface... SA really screwed up.
IMO, I don't know why:bang: they would not have put in one of the above surfaces, rather than dinkin' around with the unknown...it cost a fortune to put in, and now they'll end up spending more money to fix it.
I just hope they get it right in time for the BC, and I hope the BC races won't be less than they should be because trainers won't want to run on the surface there:mad:

Get rid of the law, dig it all up, and put the dirt back where it rightfully belongs.

This nonsense has gone on long enough for even the most avid fan to endure.

Synthetic surfaces have big an absolutely unnecessary innovation.

This whole thing has been a "screwing up a two-car funeral" affair.
