Okay, Alan Shuback thinks he's SO wise, touting Casino Drive (cough-NO SHOT-cough) in the Belmont Stakes. The rationale ? Why, he's a half brother to Rags to Riches --- :jump: --- and Jazil ---.
This is the same Alan Shuback that called Curlin overrated on the world ratings for 2007 ( I know --- who cares ?). Why overrated ? Because he was beaten by a filly in the Belmont Stakes --- yes, the selfsame filly, Rags to Riches (  ), and because in the BC Classic he beat Hard Spun, presumably distance-challenged, but arguably the second best American horse in 2007, period.
Granted, Casino Drive would have a fighting chance in a Belmont Stakes sans Big Brown, albeit as a huge underlay. The fact remains that the graded race he just won was the equivalent of an average NWX1 allowance. He deserved to be at 6/5, and it would take a common animal to FAIL to romp in that spot. That said, AS would have us believe that the Jazil connection ( ) and Big Brown's supposed distance worries will combine to doom Big Brown's TC aspirations.
Tommyrot, Mr. S. Pshaw, tillyvalley and twaddle, I say.
