somebody , anybody

explain why diesel price has risen above the price of gas

the more gas you refine the more diesel you have

since it is (was) more of a byproduct of the refining of oil

why 4.99 /gal

is it that the oil companies know that they can charge as much as they want to because the trucks have to have it

pjtrucker maybe you can answer this question but watch out some might say your wrong

Well Bill

Let me see if I can try to fill you in on how this great government of ours is so truly trying to help us out , yeah right?

1st. Lets breakdown the cost of each gallon:
16% taxes
18% distribution and marketing
15% refining
51% to crude oil

2nd. Our government has recently required diesel to burn cleaner thus
creating ,Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel, ULSD, which they claim costs
about 7-9 cents more per gallon to produce, yeah right!!!

3rd. Bio-diesel When it came out fuel was about 1.45 a gallon and we
were told that this type of fuel would always be cheaper than
diesel , because making it cost less, well that was B/S look at it
now , it is just as high as regular diesel. Thanks Wille!!

4th. The results of this "new diesel, ULSD", is horrific, PERIOD!!! That's
right , we get about 1.5-2.5 miles per gallon less than before, yes
our mpg have gone down, thanks Uncle Sam.

5th. Wait there is more, the new fuel gives us Algae in our tanks, yep a
living organizm in our tanks that clog our fuel lines and injectors. I
personally replaced 3 injectors so far, and 1 fuel pump, so we get
added maintenance costs due to this ULSD.

6th. But claiming that the government is helping us out, may be disputed
by many, but I just don't care anymore, what is ,IS, PERIOD. Thanks
Uncle Sam for helping us out so greatfully.

Well Bill I hope that gives you some idea why Diesel is higher than Gas, because to me it doesn't, but that is what they tell us when we ask them why? The bottomline is greed, pure and simple. As you earlier stated that Diesel i just a by product of refined gasoline, but.........

Have more questions, I will be happy to try to help you, but no promises.

I don't trust politicians and frankly, if about half were to get shot I would feel there is a God. I mean, why would anyone pay $6 million (campaign) for a job that pays what-$200k per year. (Do you think they have a way to get their money back?)

I have a hunch that somewhere, somebody has an invention that will put a serious ding into the oil companies. A new "super battery", or a way to get 100 MPG with less fuel and more power or some such thing.

The big oil companies are going to get their last nickel. I can not prove it but I just feel the last hurrah for the oil companies is on the horizon. The question is how long?

Those stimulus checks were a wolf in sheeps clothing, if you get my drift.

Just a thought and not necessarily a good one.

Husker - scroll down to "diesel" - better gas mileage and less maintenence...
Article was written in 2004 - smaller engines with turbo diesels get better gas mileage.

Don't see those here in the US often...wonder why?

this is a post that i made but didnt get a lot of feedback
huck we agree
honda nitrogen
i dont post often

but here is my thoughts on govt price controll
first example
dupont and r12 freon
dupont told it was to be outlawed allowed 2yrs to make all that they could
price before .69 /can after they were told about the 2 yr bit it went to $20/can
another ex
cigerets about $4 / carton let every body sue the tobbaco co rich now they cost $55/carton and didnt pay all of the lawsuits

now gas
bush said nitrogen years and years to develope

honda since 2006 has had cars running on hydrogen
in downey cal
they have a refeuling station that uses solar panel to manufacture the hydrogen i know just a few cars at this time
also the are working on a fuel cell for homes that will power the home and refuel the auto
if this all comes together then the oil co became rich when they could get all you can thats the way it is
