first txu(the electric co)in texas was a monopoly more are less but was regulated
so that they were only allowed to make a fixed profit
they voted to deregulate . we now could choose our supplier where did all these other companies come from ( are all owned by txu ?)
txu profit shot up by a tremendous amt
a company called oncor is now the supplier??
oncor asked the board yesterday to allow then to install smart meters to all of their customers and asked the board to allow a charge of 2.35/mo for 11years added to our electric bill
when they install them it will save them all of the meter readers salary and associated costs they also want the customers to to reimburse them 90 mill because they bought out some competition (or lost that much on a cable tv venture)
why should they be allowed to do this
