SLow day today, so playing with a BRIS PDF and a pencil, here is the 7th tomorrow at Belmont. At the bastard distamnce of 7F that screws me up so many times. Feel free to criticize my reasoning....7 is not my best distance to handicap.

Belmont, Race 8 Saturday

Executive search. 6 0 1 0 at the distance, 44 3 7 8 lifetime, doesn’t look like he likes any distance, but his last race, at 6F he closed well. In his flat mile at Belmont last year, he kind of shows the same style as the last race. I’m putting him in and using his last line as representative of what he should do tomorrow. S 88 – 93 181

Good Card. 0 0 0 0 at the distance. His last race and his 6.5 furlongs at Belmont last year say he might like 7, but his one turn mile race where he went to the front is a concern. Will he do the same at 7? S 90 – 91 181 or S 84 – 98 182

Charging Hero. 2 1 0 1 at the distance, but that was on poly. His mile two back on dirt tells me not to worry. EP 95 – 87 182 (Extrapolated from the mile two back)

Of All Times. 2 0 0 0 at the distance. Almost always on or near the lead, no telling why he is 0 for 2 at 7F, but he raced good longer and shorter, so I ‘m using him. EP 95 – 93 191 (extrapolating his last race at a mile)

Super Shape. As far as distance goes, he is ok. Can’t use a paceline anyway. *Punt*

Monster Drive. 1 0 1 0 at the distance and it was his last race. I’m ok with him at 7. If he runs 85 in this one, he will be 5 back, not his comfort zone. He wants to be within about a length, so I’m adding 10 points to his 85 and taking from his 103 LP. EP 95 – 93 188 He has been able to run both EP and LP number before. The WO gap from 4/15 to 5/11 concerns me, but he did show a good work when he came back.

Exec S 88 93 181

Good S 90 91 181

84 98 182

Char EP 95 87 182

OfAl EP 95 93 191

Mons EP 95 93 188

From this, it looks like no one can catch Of All or Monster, except maybe Good Card.

You need to use his 84 98 line. HE will be about 5 back, and will make up only about 3 of that, unless the two duel and tire. A few here have the ability to go faster than 95 early, and if any one of them does, this could set up for Good Card. He sat 5 back last time against a faster pace than the 95 he might see in here. Of All Times has the speed to clear this field and put the other earlies off their game. Then it is he and Good Card at the end.

Nothing constructive to offer?
Since when does field size dictate a horse' ability?

I posted the two I am playing.....you got a problem with that?

Tom, I personally think #4 of all times (Levine/Coa very good connections as well) jogs wire to wire... it doesn't look like much value at all in the race for me unless the #3 Charging Hero can run back to previous numbers but, with connections of Sedlacek/Morales makes it tough. (lots of horses with Very good connections in here, besides the 4). it is probably a pass race unless I can get 5/2 on the 4 and or 20-1 on the 3. Why did you select this race? there are a few races that I think have potential for value...

Sam, I had a slow day at work, a PDF file, and I have more trouble with 7 furlongs than any other distance, so I thought I'd try this one and maybe get some feedback..like yours. Thank you...

Yea, 7f is tough, I like playing horses cutting back in distance...but of late I have been mostly playing turf racing, I can find value 3x as many turf races as dirt...and for me it has been much more profitable.

I think I am going to use the 5; guessing he'll go flag fall to that's all...but then I usually play the speed @7f......thanks for posting your analysis as I am trying to get back up to speed and appreciate (sp?) when people take the time to do it.

Speed needs to be overwhelming at 7f, #6 might be better set for the extra 1/8.

I'm worthless today. bet 3 races so far this a.m (win bets)., all 3 ran second, now I just played the P3 at Bel and bought the 3rd race and of course the favorite wins....should have gone for a longer ride and skipped the early races as I had originally planned!

Good Card fits my track profile best for 7F at BEL. Connections are a problem but that should inflate the price. Speed has been tiring at 7F. This is a tough race with the unknown factor of Super Shape, given his Dutrow/Big Brown connections. I have Good Card at 6/1, exacta with Monster Drive.

I think the 4's odds will be too low to offer value. The 6 will surely get a lot of play also, so I am going to play a small exacta 6 over 1,3,4. Maybe make a little profit. That's in the 8th at Belmont

Tom: Don't worry about jerks with closed minds who are more interested in being right than effective.

I bet 3 horses in a wide open 6 horses field just a couple days back and came out with a $21-plus winner.

Anytime you think you see a situation that puts you in line to make a possible profit, play away!

See, this is why I say I don't like 7 furlongs.
I can see the winner, to a degree, and the mystery horse is what you have to live with with no paceline, but the 44-3 liftime horse soundly beating the rest like he did.....I'll stay away from 7 panels and Belmont, thank you. I can't take anymore of this high class racing ......off to get ready for Pen tonight, and the trotters. Got out of this weekend cheap at NYRA.:bang:

6 - 3 Exacta $75.50 I call that good profit for a 6 horse field.

I agree Tom, it is a tough game. which is why I play mostly turf...I passed the race when the 4 drop to 8/5...the 3 ran preety good at 19-1.

Are you going to be a Toga this year?
