The Henry Kuck Ratings for The Sheepshead Bay this saturday at BEL are available at the link below. The ENTIRE BELMONT CARD is included this week
in anticipation of history potentially being made in a few weeks !

Good Luck.

Here are my initial thoughts on the field.

LEAP IN THE SUN will need to improve to compete with this group. HOSTESS handled her quite easily two traces back and nothing much has changed since.

HOSTESS ran a powerful race in her last earning a career best variant ratings. She is winless over the Belmont turf course but has hit the board in 4 of 5 starts.
OSCHRE improved dramatically last out when asked to go 1 1/2 mi and gets in lite here off her enrty level allowance score. Pletcher rides Hill which will surely keep her price close to the 15-1 M/L after being ridden by Velasquez and Gomez previously.

HERBORISTE is another mare that was easily handled by HOSTESS previously. Her best race appears to be over a yielding turf course and even though there has been rain this week, the course will likely be rated no worse than good on saturday.

RISING CROSS will need to improve significantly to compete here in her 3rd US start. She has taken action in both of her races but hasn't managed better than aone third place finish.

J'RAY is another Pletcher runner who has been very consistent over th elast few years. In her three starts in 2008 she appears to have lost a step or two from her prior years form.

FLAWLESS TREASURE put it all togther with a strong win last out over the BEL turf course. Castellano stays aboard and she comes right back on 17 days rest.

MAURALANKANA is very consistent at these marathon distances but is lso 0 for 2 over the BEL turf course. Desormeaux picks up the mount on the field's highweight.

CLASS:
------

OSCHRE is stepping up in class but he made significant improvement in his last and is eligible to make further improvement to compete here.

PACE:
-----

This is a paceless race. None of these runners have a fondness for making the pace and it appears that the jock who shows the initiative will easily place his horse on the lead.

VARIANT:
--------

The only horse to have earned a 79 variant rating at an extended distance is HOSTESS and she did so in her last race. HOSTESS has the additional advantage of having done so despite her pace rating declining by several lengths. This is a powerful indicator that she is now on the top of her game and is clearly the horse to beat despite being the 3rd cloice in the M/L.

HOSTESS 5-2
FLAWLESS TREASURE 6-1
MAURALAKANA 3-1

Good Luck,
John
