Had to drop someone off at the airport this morning and swung by the site on the way back. Place is starting to look like a race track. Barns on the backside are nearly completed and the skeleton of a clubhouse/granstand is up. A lot of work is being done on the Sibley Road side. So, if you're in the area I would avoid this road and take Pennsylvania instead.

My uneducated guess says July 18th opening day is going to be ambitious. However, I'd be willing to wager we will see a live TB race before the end of the year.

What surface are they supposed to be putting in? Have they said anything about what the purse structure will be like in the first year?

Nothing specific about the surface but I believe it will be regular dirt.

Haven't heard anything about the purse structure either. I'm assuming it will be similar to what GLD was running last year.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I dont know why they dont run a mixed breed meet like Los Alamitos does but in MI the TB people dont mix much with the QH people at all.

It will be nice if it pans out.

Mt Plesant Meadows runs as a QH and one TB race on Saturdays and Sundays from May until October. It was just getting started when the Indians built a Billion $ casino down the street. Simo. keeps it going now.

Expect our new track to eventually have slots etc. The owners bought into the Greek Town Casino in Downtown Detroit. It makes it "POSSIBLE" for them to circumsize the law.

Yep I am all too familiar with the history of QB racing in Michigan. I was running QH's when I was guarenteed to lose money even if I won. I am not sure but I suspect that is still the case for most of those involved with QH racing in Michigan. Having a second track near a THE major population center in MI could only help and IF the new track has any trouble filling races I would love to see them open their arms to the QH's.

I saw that they bought into a casino and figured right away it was a move based on the fact that doing so makes it easier for them to get slots at the track. NOT circumvent the law, but taking advantage of the law as it currently exists.

Hey Coach,

I misspelled that word intentionally.

Yeah I assumed that :) and I got a chuckle out of it. It is just the kind of thing I like to do from time to time with.
