Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone can recommend or not the e-book by Dr Robert Anthony called Wagering to Win. Half of the book has to do with casino wagering and the other half with horse racing. Thanks.

Where is it for sale? How much? Where can I see list of contents?

Yep, I purchased the "book" (www.winningsolutions4u.com) today, and have looked it over twice and have to say that it's OK (with a capital O and a capital K).

The ebook is divided into 2 sections really: a casino gambling guide for even money bets at craps, roulette and baccarat (though you could probably apply a few ideas to blackjack as well), and the second section focuses on Horse Racing, which I gather is his true passion.

While it's a solid read with some good ideas, I think most will be disappointed overall, especially horse players looking for a solid method of picking horses: there just aren't any. What it is instead is a book on 'wagering strategies,' as in Martingale, Labouchere, d'alembert. Thankfully, these methods aren't rehashed. He does have a few interesting strategies ranging from the relatively simple (though good) to the downright unrealistically complex, though I would like to emphasize that there is some good info here.

In his horse racing section, it assumes that you're already a solid handicapper who consistently can pick winners whether or not you show a strong ROI. He attempts to show you varying methods of taking your negative ROI and making it into something positive using his various money management strategies. I plan on looking at a few of my older 'systems' and see if I can't apply a few different money management strategies to make them positive. Again, nothing terribly earth-shattering here and nothing new for those who've been around awhile, but still some good info, though I'm still debating whether I should take advantage of his money-back guarantee.

I actually thought his FREE ebook, Beat The Odds was actually more useful and even a bit insightful. So all should at least download and give it a once over. Again, nothing earth-shattering, but some good ideas and reminders for us gamblers.

Hope this helps.

Is this THE Robert Anthony? The one who has written those self-help books?

I read a couple of his books some years ago...and he is pretty good.

I think it was in his book BETTING ON YOURSELF where he wrote that he met a very successful horseplayer, who agreed to mentor him on the finer points of winning at the track...provided that Anthony wouldn't divulge the horseplayer's secrets until after he was dead.

This Robert Anthony may not be the same guy though...because he seems more interested in betting progressions on the casino games.

Gus, I believe the 'very successful horseplayer' that Anthony mentioned in his Betting on Yourself book was the great Howard Sartin.

Doc Sartin often wrote about Robert Anthony in The Follow Up.

You might be right. I don't recall Anthony ever giving any more details about this mystery horseplayer. But I do remember seeing Robert Anthony's handicapping and betting work being advertised in Dave Powers' scam-system catalog...and that diminished him greatly in my eyes.

Yes, he did a few seminars with the Doc back in the day.
I might have a paper he wrote for us...I'll look for it this weekend.

That is what I was thinking of, Ted.
Thanks. I'd have been looking all weekend for a booklet that didn't exist! :D

Doc also talks about Anthony in the Psychology of Winning chapter (http://www.sartinmethodology.com/pubs/PsychologyOfWinningPMTR.pdf) he wrote in the book "Pace Makes the Race". Sartin mentions that successful horseplayer in that chapter, so it wasn't Doc. But he does say that Anthony was one of his Methodology clients.
