Wow. Ever since Giacomo the amatuer betting public thinks everyone can win. Since that Giacomo race I dont think I have ever seen a horse over 40-1 in any of the races. Before Giacomo,you would always see 70-1,80-1,and even 99-1's.
There has been such bad value since Giacomo won. I think since ratings went up on the Triple Crown races after all the big new Silver Charm,Real Quiet,Charasmatic,etc the public started watching the derby and saw what happened and what Giacomo payed and the ex,tri,etc payed and that lonshots just win or its easy money. NOBODY goes off at a big price anymore. These horses that should be 80-1 and higher are 30-1 and lower year after year.
Saravra woould have been 23-1 today and not 70-1.
Slew's Tizzy a would be burnt up front runner who in now way could win the Belmont went off at 18-1 last year. He should've been 80-1. 18-1 on a speedster who has to run 30 points way over his head and beat Rags to Riches and Curlin and Tiago. You get 18-1. I remember thinking how crazy that was. You see if every year.
