I found this survey they are taking about horse racing over at SI.com, figured maybe some on this board would like to maybe take it.

I voted, but moreso than the results, the thing jumps out ast me is is that after two days, there are fewer than 1200 votes.

And 10% of them want to abolish racing. If one out of ten sports fans would like to do away with horseracing, imagine what portion of the general public shares that view.

I'd bet there was a fair percentage of people who'd want to abolish horse racing BEFORE this tragedy. Just like those who want to abolish taverns, tobacco and topless joints. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, or that it should.

Hell, you could post a poll and get a percentage of people who'd want to abolish having more than two kids. Thankfully, that's not how it goes in this country.

Just voted. 1227 votes so far.

For myself, the current response of 61% saying drugs are not any more of a problem in horse racing than any other sport is a surprise. I didn't know that the horses make a decission as to whether or not they get poked with a needle.

They seem to be assuming that if Big Brown wins the Preakness, he will race in the Belmont.
