Yesterday my uncle played a pick 3 ticket at Evangeline race 7. His ticket was structured like so ABC/A/ABCD C from the first race was a late scratch at the gate. The race proceeded to go off with the favorite winning at 4/5. My uncle in turn hit the pick 3 but was not was awarded a consaltion for the scratch. He just recieved his money back.
Was this because it was the first leg of the pick 3? Or was evangeline missing something.

Consolations are only offered for tickets that have scratches if BOTH of the following conditions exist:

1) The scratch occurred in either the second or third leg of the pick 3,

2) The scratch was made by the stewards AFTER the first leg of the pick 3 was run.

If both rules do not apply then you receive a refund (i.e. scratch in the first leg of a pick 3, or if a scratch in the second or third leg occurred before the first leg had went off.)

Thanks.
I also notice evangeline does not give you the post time favorite anyway.
It gives you a consolation. Cant say I am a big fan of that.
