That was an impressive win. Casino Drive's 9f was faster than Big Brown's Florida Derby and his final furlong went in :12 3/5. I think we're gonna have us a horse race in the Belmont !

Maybe you could tell us how many horses from Japan have run in the Belmont and just how badly they regressed.;)

It was a very nice win, but please...that field he beat make's this year's Derby look like the BC Classic. Runner up Mint Lane would have been a sure bet to run last in the Derby. Ready's Echo is a sprinter, but ran pretty well actually to get third. Tomcito showed what he was made of; done at the half mile pole. If Big Brown and Casino Drive both come into the Belmont in good condition, BB will drill him.

Let's see BB win the Preakness before we get all exicted about this potential match up.....

I remember a highly touted Peter Pan winner one year by the name of Twining....came into his race against Holy Bull undefeated and was supposed to be some sort of 'test' for da Bull....:lol:

Not saying Casino Drive is Twining, and not saying Big Brown is Holy Bull....it's just something I thought about....

CD looked like he would have won any of the 9 furlong Dirt preps other than the Florida Derby.
He probably could have won some of the 8.5 dirt preps as well.

Fountain of youth = obliterate

Wood Memorial = obliterate

Arkansas Derby = obliterate

etc...

There is a difference between one turn mile and a two turn route race.
Keep the crown in the cupboard for a bit longer.

Agree with opinions that the competition and the distance of the Peter Pan render all speculation of the matchup with BB in the Belmont rather meaningless. However, I did take time out to watch this race and can say this horse is very, very good. He is an awesome physical speciman and his stride appears fluid and effortless. I think he will do quite well in the Belmont.

My opinion relates to foreign horses , and my general sense, Not backed by stats, is they generally run strong first time in the states, then regress.

We learned in the Derby that the general state of this years 3YO crop of racehorses is SLOW. We relearned that in the Peter Pan. In both cases, a good racehorse looks like a champion because of weak competition.
