Race 1

In a race lacking early speed, Victorio (1) may be the quickest of the slow. Gets the good rail, and brings a couple of very nice works into this race. His last race compares very nicely to Allowance level races run at Santa Anita around that time. Plus, early speed does well at this distance. Buzzin Mon (5) drops back into Maiden Claiming ranks, cuts back in distance, adds blinks, and regains the services of Jockey Mike Smith. Also has a nice work last week. Trainer Bill Spawr confidently hikes Mr. Inn Zone (6) in class, and I would not be surprised to see this one make an impact here. Both Kaffeinator (7) and SouthBay Scoty (3) have been close at this level, and either one could hit the board again. Using underneath.

Race 2

Trainer Marty Jones puts Saracina (3) back on her preferred surface and distance, after a freshening. Likes it here at Hollywood, too. Storm Queen (7) returns for good layoff trainer Thomas Bell. She’s been working well, and doesn’t meet an especially strong field for this level. Crown of Diamonds (4) broke her maiden here last December. Should be able to hang with the leaders a long way, and should improve second off the layoff. Jockey is somewhat of a concern. A couple to complete the tri, if that’s what your playing, are Persian Honey (1), who looks like she’ll move forward in her second US start, and Steppin Out Rose (2) who usually gets close.

Nope!!

Hard to look past the favorite, Champs Elysees (2) in this very short field. Bridge jumping place bet? Seven year old Boule D’or (1) looks like he’s ready to take a step backwards in this race, but it still might be good enough for second

#5 Time Tosay Goodbye has fired off an extended break before & seems to like Hollywood a bit. 9/1 could be a recipe for a nice return or disaster. :)

Let's see how the odds on the 2 hold up.
It's still 1/9 at 10 MTP.
I think the 2 is insanely underlaid.

Race 4

Ymustichasethecat (9) looks every bit as fast as the favorite here. We should see a contested early pace, and this one races well on or near the lead. Common Trust (3) looks to benefit if things get too hot up front. No published workouts since his last race, almost a month ago, is a concern. Good connects. Nerinx (11) threw in a clunker in his last, but has worked well since. Gets reunited with Solis. Figures for at least slice.

I'm hittin' the longshots today.
The 8 is a good example of what Brohamer calls 'the turn back play'.
An early speed router with good 6f fractions moving into a sprint.

Race 5

The pace appears to be hot here, and if you like the favorite, Ron Bob And Dave (4), you are betting he is going to take them all the way. I’ll bet against. Two late running routers that could both be coming late are Cherokee Heaven (2) and Asperity (6). Both are proven competitors at this level, without having yet been stuck at the condition. On back class, Shamdinan (3) is a standout. Not sure about the mile distance, but should find the company much easier this time out. Can’t throw out the Frankel importee Tybalt (1). Has been off for 9 months and will have to fire a big one to take it all.

I might take a chance with #9 Celtic Rose. Very steady work pattern for her debut.

Safe play might be using the 5 & 7 with some shots & hope for the best in the exotics.

Race 6

A group of fairly matched maidens contest this, and a number could win, and an even larger number could hit the board. Conclusion? Let’s try one of the new faces. Celtic Rose (9) debuts for good connects and has been working very well. As does Love To Siphon (6). As does Tizsweetdreams (3). Scout About (7) looks the most likely of those who have raced. Quite of few could complete the tri, including Intouchable (11), and Modification (10).

Georgeous George (7) is a consistent sort with the right style to win this. Favorite Sweeter Still (6) looks like the main threat. Bel Air Sizzle (4) returns to her preferred surface.

Spot The Diplomat (7) figures to be prominent throughout. As does Wheaton Hall (10) who is going good right now and could give Pedroza his second winner on the card. Must use in exotics. Storm Machine (11) drops into a race where he is a contender. Sorcerers Spell (9) figures to have to much to do late, but figures for a slice.

Not exactly sure what to make of Bonfante (4), but if he fires, he looks real tough here. Bilo (8) also has the looks of someone who could make an impact. Or do nothing. I am betting against Street Boss (3), and thinking Doppio (5) might also pop up and surprise.

Tough race to call. I’m hoping that Storm Dragon (10) bounces back from his dismal showing in the Snow Chief. His first try routing on the turf was decent. Big IF. Betting against Buck Basolo (3). Too many chances. Faded badly when going around two turns. Turf try was nothing special. Herecometheirish (5) is the surprise package.
