Imagine if you had bought Halliburton stock when Bush & Cheney took office. It was about $16/share in late Jan. 2001. Now its worth about $48......a three bagger and that doesn't even include dividends. Lets not forget that 2001 and 2002 were terrible years for the market and the last 6 months have been lousy. Most of us didn't invest in HAL but the handwriting was on the wall and we should've known this would happen.

How in the hell should we have known? Did you know? Did you think there was going to be an attack that would spur on a war? Did you think just because Bush and Cheney were elected you should buy up HAL stock? Obviously not? Please, Please tell me about the handwriting? Show me some real example?

Ok, based on your intuition, what should we be buying right now?

Let's see, John Wayne McCain, Metamucil stock?? How about Anti-skin cancer cream producers. That's it.......sunblock!!!

Oh, What if Barack wins? Wow, What do we buy now? Let's see.......how about communist flags and socialist books. We would have the market cornered, huh?

Let's see where else could we take this ridiculous thought.................you know, I almost pulled a Fuzzy Zoeller there..............

.........

Companies that do the bulk of their business in China, Brazil, Russia and India. That's where the growth is. Not here. The companies can be American based, just as long as they aren't counting on the bulk of their revenues coming from North America.

If the Dems win, I would not want to be in defense companies like Raytheon or Teledyne. And when the Dems do win, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have done very well in the past.

Healthcare doesn't look good if any of the 3 win. And we know McCain is hell bent on ridding the world of evil off-shore wagering.

Only the most naive would tell themselves the fairy tale that its a coincidence the business the President's family has been for 50 years (oil) and the business the Vice President was in (oil services and support services) would make ridicolous amounts of money at the precise time both these men came to power. The odds of that are astronomical. Republican or Democrat, your ability to honestly evaluate facts is warped. You especially, who is about 10% as smart as you think you are, an ill informed know it all, and a compulsive topper, and a one better than everybody always type of guy. Thats the problem. I honestly evaluate facts. If you think anybody could have seen this war and oil prices spiking.......tell me why you didn't get rich on it? Fill me in?

You don't know me. You should have called me fat too. I am down about 35 lbs since Xmas. So take your shot while you can.

Been married 22 years, no kids and very happy. I am not isolated, I travel often and have a great time. Play some music now and then, write a little and take care of my rental property. You did not only criticize Light, you criticized all liberals. Including me and others who voice their conscience. By joking and innuendo. Hi Fives all around by the neo-righties here.

I have never supported violence. I have criticized terrorists and this administration for their actions. Pointing out that this administration lied us into war does not mean I think 911 was justified. Using the Lancet and other recognized organizations as sources for Iraqi death counts does not mean I get my "kicks" from gruesome statistics as Lsbets has said.

He also posted that U.S. soldiers used candy to lure Iraqi children to be murdered.

Even if you ignore the Lancet study, there is still this.

"Bob Herbert NYT "Based on all available evidence, it seems unreasonable to believe that fewer than 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed thus far. Many very serious scholars believe the total is much higher."

.................................................. .................................................. .

ORB asked a representative sample of 1,499 adults the following question:

How many members of your household, if any, have died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003 (i.e. as a result of violence rather than a natural death such as old age)? Please note that I mean those who were actually living under your roof.

Responses were as follows:

None: 78%
One: 16%
Two: 5%
Three: 1%
Four or more: 0.2%

Given that the 2005 census counted 4,050,597 households in Iraq, this suggests a total of 1,220,580 deaths since the 2003 invasion."

(Details can be found on the ORB website: http://www.opinion.co.uk/Newsroom_details.aspx?NewsId=78)

It is obvious that the bush estimate is woefully inaccurate.
The death toll is more than the official US report. That alone indicates more lies. The crap that the military does not do body counts says it all.

The 2-4 million Iraqi refugees adds to the degree of devastation. I assure you the pain and suffering of civilians-is not something that I enjoy

When Bush senior was in office, (Desert Storm) do you remember all the banks that went under and people haveing to pay buyers to take their houses before foreclosure set in.

Bush junior and Iraq and oil and again the American PFC (poor f******civilian) takes it on the chin again.

The news media called the Clintons a dynasty the other night and you have to wonder what it is going to take to get back to basics. (remember government by the people for the people)

My personal take is that Obama will win the nomination and I think he is going to be sacrifieced if elected. Part of me believes he would really like the American dream put back into place. (who doesn"t). But he does not have what it will take to do the task.

One way or another Hillary will win and the Bush dynasty will continue on.

They are all a bunch of crooks and I do not see anything on the horizon to change that. I swear they all sit at the same table, and that includes the corporate bastards.

The dollar has a lot to do with it and poor decisions by the Fed have been a big contributing factor to the dollar being in the toilet. So, Tom, who appointed Bernanke anyways? Yeah, it was your buddy Bush. The Fed couldn't wait to keep lowering and lowering rates; screw over the American public and benefit the investment banks.
