THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE

> CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

>

> This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his

> engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the

> gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take

> time to read this please.

>

> Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

> This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day'

> campaign that was going around last April or May!

> It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

>

> I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by this summer and

> it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

>

> We need to take some intelligent, united action.

> The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't

> continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

>

> It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

> BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can

> Really work. Please read on and join with us!

>

> By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super

> cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.49 for regular unleaded in my town,

> Seattle.

>

> Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to

> think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we

> need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the

> market place. not sellers.

>

> With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to

> take action.

>

> The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit

> someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do

> that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

>

> How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

>

> But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force

> a price war.

>

> Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline

> from the two biggest companies (which now are one),

> MOBIL AND EXXON.

>

> If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their

> prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to

> follow suit.

>

> But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and

> Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at

> this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach

> millions of people!!

>

> I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least

> ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more

> (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the

> sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers

> .

> If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each,

> then 30 million people will have been contacted!

>

> If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION

> PEOPLE!!!

>

> Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

>

> (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have

> to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't

> a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

>

> How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten

> more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could

> conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

>

> I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!

> Acting together we can make a difference.

>

> If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that

> we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00

> RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

>

>

> Keep it going

Or until they just divert the supply to China, whose demand increases every day.

It is not a closed market.

Can we get the Chinnese to sign up, too?

And of course you put the station owners out of business too....

Yepper,
Not buying from one or two companies will have no affect on consumption. If you want to do something, just stay home 1 day a month. NO DRIVING AT ALL !!
Just 1 day a month. Park your cars and leave them parked for 24 hours.

Well heck, ljb, the libs, who are all on welfare anyway can do that, but us righties are all gainfully employed and the economy counts on us everyday!

(tounge-in-cheek....just KIDDING!)

This is an oldie but goodie, but fails in anything other than sucking up Internet bandwidth and here is why.

> from the two biggest companies (which now are one),

> MOBIL AND EXXON.

I can honestly say most of the people in my area do NOT purchase from Mobil or Exxon. We purchase mostly from Wawa (local convenience store and gas). In doing this I guess some of what this chain letter says is true.

But there is one problem, the local Exxon is always 10 cents or higher than the other stations now. They have the least amount of business and they STILL do not lower their prices just to stay competitive.

The closest one to me that I pass every day is ten cents HIGHER than the Shell station across the street! Sometimes it is much more than that. I can pretty much bet that Wawa a few hundred feet down the road handles at least 3 times and probably 5 or 6 times the amount of business. Yet, the Exxon still does NOT lower its price.

So us locals have actually been following this advice and the impact has been probably the opposite.

Here is the Snopes take on this oldie but goodie!

an alternative you don't hear much about, for CA and NY residents at least, is the nat gas Honda Civic (GX). 36mpg freeway, nat gas is about $2.41 a gallon here, vs. 3.90, so cost equivalent about 59mpg. Not bad, plus you can fuel right at home.

There are no Mobil or Exxon stations around where I live. I do remember when word got out about Citgo being owned by Hugo Chavez, people quit buying gas from that station. I don't see any Citgo stations anymore.

Do you have to pay some kind of highway tax to the State and Feds?

If you fill up at a station (that offers it), I think so. For the at home stuff, no.

""How thirsty? Honda anticipates a gasoline-equivalent rating of about 68 miles per gallon in the Environmental Protection Agency's combined city-highway driving cycle.

Tank holds 171 liters of hydrogen gas. Honda says that's the energy equivalent of four gallons of gasoline, yielding a driving range of 270 miles at the expected mpg rating.""

There is a rumor going around the motorcycle boards that Honda has already been testing the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle with this engine. It supposed to get 128 miles to the gallon. With slightly less power.
Some even are suggesting that is the reason why they are shutting down the motorcylce plant in Marysville Ohio. They are going to switch over to Hydrogen completely in five years. ??????

Interesting. So if you plug into your NG at the house? How do you compress gas from the line pressure into the tank?

i dont post often

but here is my thoughts on govt price controll
first example
dupont and r12 freon
dupont told it was to be outlawed allowed 2yrs to make all that they could
price before .69 /can after they were told about the 2 yr bit it went to $20/can
another ex
cigerets about $4 / carton let evey body sue the tobbaco co rich now they cost $55/carton and didnt pay all of the lawsuits

now gass
bush said nitrogen years and years to develope

honda since 2006 has had cars running on hydrogen
in downey cal
they have a refuling station that uses solar panel to manufacture the hydrogen i know just a few cars at this time
also the are working on a fuel cell for homes that will power the home and refuel the auto
if this all comes together then the oill co became rich when they could get all you can thats the way it is

I guess there is a thingy...and a real big thingy. Jezz, is that for real Ralph? I guess I was thinking of natural gas...not straight hydrogen.

chickenhead
05-09-2008, 10:00 PM
its a wee bit smaller than that (the thingy above her shoulder). That hydrogen car costs half a million bucks JR, the nat gas Civic is like $20K, with a couple K tax break.
