I think Baffert's shooting too low with Samba Rooster. If he were mine, I'd run him in the Preakness. He'll be five in front in a short field after 6F on a track that's usually kind to speed. Even if BB runs him down, 2nd in the Preakness is worth a whole lot more to a horse's value than winning the LS Derby.

That looks like a pretty nice race.....and it makes me wonder: who exactly is going to be left for the Preakness again? Sheesh.BB has made the big races for a few tracks. The Iowa, Ohio, and WV derbys should come up larger than normal.

When Baffert has 2nd tier Triple Crown Nom. horse or very good non-nom. horse, he points them for this race. .ie Preachingatthebar in 2006. I think Baffert leads trainers with wins of Lone Star Derby.
