My good friend, and wife of Henry Kuck, passed away this past sunday.
It was the day after the Kentucky Derby which she was able to watch
on TV from her hospice bed in the comfort of her home. I called her
in the afternoon to see how she was doing and to inform her that BIG BROWN
was the likeliest of winners. She did crack a bit of a smile from what her son
told me when she watched him cross the wire.

She was a gem of a human being and I was proud to have known her.

i did not know this woman, but often refer to mr kuck's book: winner's file, which is dedicated "to sandra, who introduced me to thoroughbred racing and almost everything else worthwhile"......

she must have been a great lady. :(

henry & sandra's first date was at belmont park. sandra had been there before with her father but it was henry's first time. henry took to it immediately and the rest as they say is history.

CJ's comment of "there must be a special place in heaven for the wife of a true horseplayer" is more accurate than you could imagine. sandra, told henry to quit his day job after they were married and had their son so he could figure out what to do with his life because she knew he was miserable doing the 9-5 thing. she then turned aound and did the 9-5 thing to support the family while henry took care of the baby & figured out what to do with his life. what he did was figure out how to produce the ratings.....

I think that place that CJ refered to in heaven was likely an entire wing.

ps henry may have been the mad scientist but sandra was everything else.
