Amazing but true. Colonel John ranks 20th out of 20 on the BRIS prime power rating. I think this is primarily because of the inadiquacies of polytrack speed figures, but still it's food for thought.

My Derby pick: Colonel John!

As far as our own custom rating metrics go, on a Fast track we have Denis of Cork 1st, Big Brown 2nd, Eight Belles 3rd and Gayego 4th (Colonel John is 8th). Big Brown still seems like the horse to beat, provided that in his 1st 3 races he basically coasted and was never really asked. Also, if the track ends up wet, it will give him a better chance to go wire to wire. Gayego also may like a wet going.

Interesting. I downloaded the PP's this morning. My version shows him last at 137.5, Z Humor second last at 139.1 and Bob Black Jack third last at 140.1. Don't know why they would differ from yours. Using the Ultimate PP's w/comments.

I think too much pace will be upfront. Colonel John should be in the perfect spot if he runs his race today and the track remains fast.

Just recall exactly where I was .. when Spendabuck went wire to wire
with Brother Cordero at the controls. I remember also that Angel had
told anyone who would listen ..that he was gonna win.

I downloaded mine Wednesday night, looks like they made some changes between then and this morning. Interesting.

Hate the fact he'll be into the slop.

Making money backing Colonel John has meant taking a leap of faith, of sorts, all along. ...though, Lord knows, I have enjoyed watching him stride out over a Cushioned track.

It'll be a relief, betting him back in The Preakness. Based on figures for once.
If he does win, here.
