I've have written here that the Race Palace is one of the finest off-track facilities ever constructed. A large part of the charm of place was the Cigar Lounge downstairs where they had 9 television sets broadcasting racing while you could enjoy an adult beverage and a fine hand rolled cigar while playing the races.
The concession that runs the cigar room is the steakhouse in the same facility (Maxwell and Dunnes). Well Maxwell's has been struggling lately to get customers, so they have decided to become an "Organic Steakhouse". With that decision, the feel that the Cigar Lounge no longer fits, so they are closing it (to appease the kind of people who like "organic" and want to oppress my liberties to smoke cigars).
I just wanted to alert some of my friends on this board that a major feature of this formerly fine place is no longer available. I was betting with PTC on my Nokia n800 over the Wifi there anyway, so now I'll just have to do that from my cigar lounge in the yard.
