Joe will be spending the next few days in Louisville observing the horses for the Derby and Oaks. Here are our observations based upon what he has seen. and has heard in discussions with other private clockers.

Good luck on Saturday.

There seems to be conflicting opinions on how well Bob Black Jack is doing (my wise guy horse ;)).

For anyone interested, PTC partner Joe Riddell will be on ESPN Radio today discussing the Derby. The show runs from 4:30-6 PM but we don't know when his segment is.

Anyone else hear that Colonel John will be compromised if it's wet? This report says so. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I read that somewhere, but I have no idea how to evaluate the info.

That single sentence is causing me a ton of headache. Can we get any confirmation from anyone? If Colonel John can't handle the mud, or if there's any indication he can't, then I'm inclined to toss him entirely.

Our thoughts for today on the CD stakes races.

If you've got a minute, take a look at Big Brown's hooves here. They look pretty beat up.

PTC's Joe Riddell reports in their May 1st Clockers Report that these are comments from Colonel John's trainer, Eion Harty. He did not quote Harty though. I would like a confirmation on Mr Harty making these comments in public or private. I have ZERO evidence that his chances will be much worse when compared to the others if the track comes up wet.

One thing to consider here is that the key negative that the Keeneland/Churchill Clockers have noted for both Big Brown and Pyro is HOOF PROBLEMS, Davidowitz doesn't even touch on this area.

I guess when your feet don't hit the ground it doesn't really matter.

That was very clever. ;) Yeah, it certainly did not matter. People can say what they will, but Dutrow is absolutely amazing when it comes to horses with leg and foot issues. His father was as well.

That was a one time thing for the Derby. If we end up with the Preakness signal, we will do something for that day as well.
