Derby Pools have always been a good bet for big bettors; the huge pools often absorb their plays giving them good value on their wagering dollars that is usually limited in average pools. This year’s Derby may not be such a good play; without diversified pools (you and me) big bettors will more than likely be pitted against themselves, probably creating underlay’s, too, causing them to cut back on their wagers….shut out of the bets will be all affected by the dispute between CDI and the Horsemen’s group

Magna Entertainment Corp.'s XpressBet will be taking bets, but Magna and partner CDI who own the rights to the signal along with the Horsemen’s Group appear firm in their opposite positions, thus, TVG and Youbet.com, which have the largest share of the market along with others will be shutout.

The blackout has not affected account-wagering platforms that restrict betting to in-state customers. As a result, the full cards from Churchill have been available on the platforms run by New York OTB companies, the New York Racing Association, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and services in Virginia and Louisiana. In addition, the signal has been authorized for several major offshore rebate shops.

The full cards will also be available at all bricks-and-mortar simulcast sites around the country.

Magna and TVG have been battling for more than a year, and this year is no different except that now we’re in the battle with them. …. Reminds me of a scene out of King Kong, where Kong is battling a dinosaur, the two are so engrossed in the battle they are unaware of the cliffs edge and both fall off

remember back when Magna and CDI joined to buy the bankrupt NYRA…TVG's largest rival, TrackNet - a partnership between Churchill Downs Inc. and Magna Entertainment Corp. that buys and sells simulcasting signals - is aggressively seeking the NYRA rights, which are the most valuable in the country.

I have an opportunity to bet the derby card …but I think I’ll pass, prices will probably be short.

an aside from the whales part of story...this adw mess could have been easily avoided through partnerships......all these new adw's set up by track owner partnerships were part of TVG exclusive deals at one time or another..they didn't mind TVG promoting and giving their products exposure at the time, and greed took over....TVG is lacking in many ways, but they do have good skills at programming and making original content..and they are intensely loyal to their exclusive clients

churchills group are loaded with cash, why in the world they would partner up with a broke-ass like Stronach escapes me

bottom line is...have any ever asked the bettors what they want??

Churchill Downs cable TV venture has lost money

Hope is to grow with Net betting

.........
Before Churchill bought half of HRTV from Magna Entertainment, races from its five tracks were shown on TVG, a subsidiary of the company that owns TV Guide.
Unlike TVG, HRTV does not offer a wagering service. The channel promotes individual services -- XpressBet and TwinSpires -- owned by Magna and Churchill, respectively.

Magna operates seven thoroughbred tracks.
