Keenland Pick 6: 3,5,6 pays 1.2 mil - everything else is 5 of 6. If I had that alive ticket, I would have no fingernails right now. The 1 is 7/2 and has Prado - seems like the only competition to the 3,5,6.

Hope one of those 3 win it for that nervous guy. LOL!!!!!

How sick is that. 1.2 million he was counting on...GONE...just like that. He can use the 5 of 6 payout to get drunk as a skunk.

5 of 6 paid 25k. This guy is going to clear over 100k at least. I'm sure he had multiple 5 of 6 tickets. He's doing fine. So he can get drunk and a whole lot more.

That one horse that he didn't have had only been out once. He ran par 1st time out. He probably had to elmininate a pick in the final leg cuz it was getting to costly. Could u imagine if he's got the 1 down in leg 6 but a line thru him. So sick. The 1 millon dollar throw out. LOL!!!

My guess is that he didn't use it because of the trainer. But those numbers are decieving - he's not a bad trainer.

In retrospect, I would not have used the horse either. I would have just used the 3 and the 5. Whoever it is, I have a lot of respect for him because I would have never made it that far into the card.

It's just one leg. What about someone nosed out of win in an earlier leg, and getting 5 of 6 ? Is he supposed to feel less brutalized ?

I had three of those 25k tickets. To say the least, I was pretty damn excited when I was alive after the first 4 races with 20 and 9 to 1 shots coming in. The 5 in Race 9 ended my chance at 1.2 million. I needed the 2,6, or 11. I'm obviously very happy with my big day but it's hard not to also dream about the life changing score that just slipped through my fingers.

Hey rook -- tough loss though I can't understand why you didn't have the 5 horse in the 9th. You use cj's no?

ohh and congrats on 75 fat ones

Hi Keilan,
Thanks for the congrats. I was worried about the 5 but with a Pick 6, it doesn't take much before the cost of the ticket starts to get out of hand.

I used to use CJ's numbers but I haven't for a couple of years not because I don't like them: it just took too much time to incorporate them with my program.

I'd been having a brutal Keeneland meet, so today, instead of relying 100% on computer output, I resorted to a few hours of good old fashioned reading of the DRF.

For the 9th race, the notations I gave the most weight were the circles around the Beyers earned at a mile and a half. For the 5, that meant an 87 and a 73. They weren't competitive with 2's 99,103 & 102 or 11's 103 and 101. Of course, if I had used the most recent Beyer then 5 would have been the top pick but these are the could'ves, should'ves that make this game an obsessive lifelong pursuit. And if most recent Beyers were consistently my method of choice then I never would have had the 20 to 1 who had 3 brutal races in a row but also had very competitive back numbers.

It was the most expensive ticket of my life. I've bet $3000+ several times before but being the last day of the meet with a huge must pay carryover, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for broke. My ticket was $5670. The number of horses in each race was 3,7,5,3,3,3

That's great - congratulations. I know it takes a lot of guts to play a ticket that big and a lot of great handicapping to hit 5.

Hi Rook -- thanks for the explanation on your selection. It's too easy to be critical of ourself or someone else's selections after the fact. Ironically the 9th race was the only race I capped that day and I keyed the 5 over 2-3-7 in the x's.

Look me up if you ever come out this way

My hat's off to you on a great score :jump:
