Okay, the pick-four was a stinker at $338 dollars, with a parlay at $453. But my beloved *8* was paying $1,300-plus ! Similar morning line, same parlay, as each went off at 9/2.

Is there a pencil and paper method for converting Pick 3's or Pick 4's will pays into ODDS? So, I can compare M\L, acual odds and odds from will pays. Thanks

(Price of winner in first / 2) * (price of winner in 2nd leg/2) = X

Probable payoff / X - 1 = PK3 probable odds?

... and then I believe you have to subtract one.

And this assumes the probables are based on $1 payouts?

The 11, who was 11:1, was also oddly low at $700 and change. I don't think it's a coincidence but that's another story.

I thought maybe it was a variation on the DCE --- the Drunken Cowboy Effect, wherein a player hammers a combination to the point of ruining the payoff, even to his own detriment. I might call this instance the LGSE --- the Long Gyland Sharpie Effect, or even the TME --- the Teetotaling Metrosexual Effect.

Anyway, Freud Ian Girl was HUGE in the pick-four, and I loved her. As so often happens, she ran a good second. I collected scads of ... lint. :(
