I may need to ask for a ruling, since I'm just "the fill-in" guy right now, but since the race already went off, and you didn't specify an alt at the time, you would've been given the post-time favorite (or horse with the lowest odds). In fact, a couple of people have cashed in the past couple of days via this rule. so I don't think it's kosher to allow an alt race once the original race has already been run.
