It is part of it maybe.

A lot though has to do with the pace of the race. That horse over 4.00 dosage may still win because of a fast pace. Just like with Giacomo was a closer. The horse with the 1.00 may win because he might have been a front runner and nobody challanged him. The quickest horse of all. War Emblem would fit that.

War Pass is over 4.00 but if nobody challanges him he would win the race anyway. He was the only front runner until Big Brown came along.

I think things like triple digit speed figures (must have at least one), pace, post positions, workouts, experience, toughness, and a improving horse effect the race more.

It has it flaws but it is still a decent tool if used correctly. Mainly when used as a race comparison between the other horses.

Combine DI with the horses DP and I think it becomes even more valuable.

With more and more horses being bred for speed and percociousness the old rules about a set number don't really apply anymore.

I hope you are eating organic, free range chickens. ........

It's been proven over and over again that the bones of the modern hormone and antibiotic laden factory raised chickens are completely useless for purposes of divination.

With No Chefs added to the stamina wing in many a year, the overall numbers would have to be re-vamped to make it relevant to today's runners. These new ones are surviving the distances more than running them. All the stamina is now on the lawn.
