Who are the top candidates...?

I'm thinking Smooth Air fits the profile. Many people will count on Big Brown being used up on the pace...and Smooth Air may be in the perfect spot to capitalize.

Its a good question. Haven't really seen one emerge just yet but he would (unfortunately because I like him) fit that sort of bill. Z Fortune and Bob Black Jack may also be good ones for the tag.

Elysium Fields was their top selection before the FL Derby. Not sure now.

Z Fortune.

He got a four wide trip and blew past Gayego in the gallup out.

In my opinion, he seems to get a wide trip quite too often for my tastes and had a much easier race than Gayego who pressed a fast pace. I am not a believer, but could see him getting credence as the wise guy horse b/c of the above.

BTW, the "wise guy" horse to me is sort of a joke. One that will be talked about the week leading up to the Derby, not a lot of substance, and overbet. To me the horse that has the most potential to be the "wiseguy pick" is Court Vision.

Nah, Gayego won a major prep, so that disqualifies him. He may get some buzz during Derby Week, but not Wise Guy buzz. Plus, he has a decent shot at winning. The Wise Guys never pick a winner. :)

The early Wiseguy pick was Elyseum .. Obviously it doesnt seem if it is
going to work out . But I am so comfused about this race ..that I will
just mail in the money to my favorite bookie .. tell him to donate to a
charity and go from there. When I say " com fused " It means that I
am reeeeeeeeeeeely confused. :bang:

Wise guy pick will be Court Vision with blinkers-on, or maybe Adriano (he's my wise-guy pick), who won the Lane's End with something in reserve.

With all of these horses listed, just how many wiseguys are there?
