Blue Grass Stakes Pace and Pedigree Analysis added April 11:

COOL COAL MAN
> Pace & Pedigree: Sire Mineshaft is one of the leading 2nd crop sires this year. While he doesn't directly have success as a sire for all-weather tracks, his sire A.P. Indy does. CCM has very solid tactical early speed and this race is really lacking zip so that works out for him well.

KENTUCKY BEAR
> Pace & Pedigree: His sire Mr. Greeley has had some success with those running on all-weather tracks. As a matter of fact, we just added that sire to our AWT list. This colt is full of potential and unknown quality. Distance is still a question and pace is as well. Only 2 career races and one was horrible. Tough read.

COWBOY CAL
> Pace & Pedigree: Sire Giant's Causeway is another we have recently added to our all-weather track list. As well as the surface, Giant's Causeway is an overall top 3 stallion right now. Cowboy Cal showed very good speed on the turf and if he takes to this surface, which he should, he will be tough in here.

STEVIL
> Pace & Pedigree: Is by sire Maria's Mon who is a solid all-weather track stallion. Even though this colt has never raced on an AWT he is bred to like it. He doesn't have much early speed and that could hurt his chances.

MONBA
> Pace & Pedigree: Has very solid pedigree to handle the all-weather track and broke his maiden here at Keeneland at first asking back in October. On the downside he is a closer and, as aforementioned, this race lacks much pace. He does seem to really like the Polytrack surface at Keeneland however, so perhaps a reversal form and overcoming pace obstacle.

BIG TRUCK
> Pace & Pedigree: Has never raced on an all-weather surface and has no pedigree that suggests that he will take to it fine. If you look at his awesome workout over the Keeneland strip on April 8th that might outweigh his lack of AWT bloodlines. Sire Hook And Ladder is one of the top five 2nd crop sires currently however mostly a sprint sire. Until Hook And Ladder actually goes 9 furlongs and gets the trip well, all of his naysayers won't believe he can carry out.

PYRO
> Pace & Pedigree: What really needs to be said here? This horse can run on broken bottles? Seemingly however he has never tried an all-weather surface yet. His works at Keeneland were kind of so-so. On the upside his grandsire A.P. Indy is a solid AWT sire.

STONE BIRD
> Pace & Pedigree: Has a bit of early zip, a bit mind you. Pedigree shows nothing that would favor this surface even going back a few generations top and bottom.

MEDJOOL
> Pace & Pedigree: Has the best pedigree TOP & BOTTOM for an all-weather surface hence that's probably why he is 6 for 7 in the money on this type of surface. Doesn't have much early speed which could hurt his chances some.

MINER'S CLAIM
> Pace & Pedigree: Pedigree is 'ok' for this surface. He shows an early type run style however he has enjoyed a slow pace in all 3 of his career starts. Still, with only 3 starts it's hard to get a good firm read.

HALO NAJIB
> Pace & Pedigree: Has no pedigree for AWT's but does sport a record of 3-2-1-0 on the surface so forget his bloodlines for a minute. Showed early front speed in one race and he faded off the board. The Garret Gomez factor is stronger than any pedigree and pace to begin with.

VISIONAIRE
> Pace & Pedigree: Simply does not have any pedigree for an all-weather surface and he has never raced over that type. He's a closer who needs a good pace set up. Perhaps his overall ability and pure talent can overcome those obstacles.
