......but an even more interesting caveat.
Are you asking how much on a cold (1x1x1) play? If so, I have no idea.
My tickets are always predicated on the number of viable contenders, and the cost is ultimately determined by the number of singles.
I will play multiple tickets keying certain horses, and if the keys win, I will hit multiple tickets. I think the most Pik4 tickets I've cashed in a single sequence is 5, and the investment was $144.

Heres where I'm going with this. If you bet $1 pick 3 and hit you are a very small part of the pool. If you bet the same pick 3 as above and you played $100 pick 3 how much would your ticket alone shrink the payout? At some point you will just be paying yourself for the most part... correct?

Just break everything down so it's as simple as possible.
Pool size (after takeout): $10,000
100 people hit it, plus your winning $1.00 bet.
You receive $99.00. That's 99 times your original bet.
100 people hit it, plus your winning $100.00 bet.
You receive $5,000. That's 50 times your original bet.
10 people hit it, plus your winning $1.00 bet.
You receive $909.09. That's 909.09 times your original bet.
10 people hit it, plus your winning $100.00 bet.
You receive $9090.90. That's 90.90 times your original bet (1/10th the ROI of your similar $1.00 bet).
Everything depends on the variables. If you are betting on a longshot, it's best to keep your wagered money low, to avoid causing waves. If you're betting on a sure thing, increasing the amount wagered will cause a relatively smaller impact.
It's the same concept as with any other type of bet.
