How does a 15.6-1 6th choice,
in a 7 horse field,
comes in 2nd,
with the favorite and 2nd favorite out of the money,

and pays -

4.40 place and 2.80 show

Thanks for the info Robert.

So wouldn't it be reasonable to think that if someone felt so strongly about this horse hitting the board, that a bit more win money would have been warrented?
Especially when there wasn't an odds on favorite in the race.

Seems odd to me.

I think this also shows why many people ( me included) like to use exactas instead of place for longer shots (I use 6-1 as a cutoff). my normal wager use to be 10 to win, 25 to place. But now I do 10 to win and then take the next likely contenders (lets say 4 horses) and play them in $4 exacta over my horse and back it up with $2 with him on top --costs almost the same and seems to work for me.

Robert where did you get that info, on the pool money for individual horses?
