I hit the Magna Pick 5 yesterday and had the 6 & 7 in the last leg. I go to the track today to cash my ticket, but instead of $1531.60, I collect $3063.20.

From the Magna 5 website:

If a betting interest is scratched, excused or determined by the judges to be a non-starter:
(a) the actual favorite, as evidenced by the amounts wagered in the win pool for the race in which the scratched betting interest was to participate is closed, shall be substituted for that scratched betting interest; or
(b) the favorite with the lowest program number shall be substituted for the scratched betting interest if the amounts wagered in the win pool are identical on two or more favorites when wagering on the race is closed.

On 03/08, the 6 horse was a late scratch in leg E. So you got the betting favorite, which was the 7, and the 7 horse won. But take a look at the results:

$2 Pick 5 (MAGNA5 9-6-5-3-7) 5 Correct Paid $1,531.60 Pick 5 Pool $427,284

It doesn't show that the 6 horse was included in the payoffs in leg E. I checked the results from GS, and it also doesn't show that the 6 was included in the payoff. Normally, the pick 6 payoffs for tracks show when late scratched horses are included in the payoffs.

I'm wondering how many people threw away winning tickets. Magna is really sneaky on the way they post the results.

Sounds more fraudulent than sneaky.

Magna is really sneaky on the way they post the results.

More "poorly executed" than "sneaky".

I assume that uncashed tickets go to the state -- not the track. So Magna gets no benefit from uncashed tickets.

In fact, with the money taken out of circulation -- it's probably a negative for them.

So if people are tossing winning tickets because of mislabeled results -- that's just bad management.

that happened to me once with a pick 4 from charles town. I had larry reynolds on a 17-1 in the last leg that made it pay 3 of 4. I went to cash the ticket for $300 and the teller put it in the machine and $900 popped up on the screen. I had 3 of 4, three times, once for each horse that I had and missed.. I never knew that until it happened but ever since then I check all of my multi race tickets
