Sony learned the same lesson when video tape recorders came out: They tried to hold onto the entire market with their Betamax format (technologically, a superior format at the time as all my television tech friends tell me).

By trying to hold on to every inch of the market, IN TIME, they lost the entire market. Good chance it could happen again.

Woodbine and Great Canadian Gaming are stunned.
Look at what happened in the US. Internet ban, and horse race betting dropped slightly.
It all boils down to the fact that horse players are generally smart. It takes a lot of work to do your own figures and research to make selections. Lots of thought goes on. And to reward them by making it impossible to win because of the takeouts is a slap in the face.
Price sensitive players will not bet at WEG with significant money if internet betting is banned.
If they don't want to fairly compete, they should stop bitching. It is just pathetic.
