The streaming video for live racing for GP and SA is no longer available (at least today) from their respective web sites. You need to have an XpressBet account to access their live streaming feeds. In some states you can't open an account with them. (Maybe YouBet still has it, I don't know)

This whole notion of restricting the simulcast feeds puzzles me.

Who are they penalizing? And, at what cost?

Gulfstream Park had a terrible meeting in 2002, right? Gulfstream is going "gangbusters" in 2003, right?

Let's throw out 2002 and compare January 2003 and the 225 races presented with January of 2001 and the 258 races presented that year. From the handle figures in the EQUIBASE charts, the total 2003 on-track handle for January divided by the 225 races results in a per handle race of $109,754. In 2001, the on-track handle for 258 races resulted in a per race handle of $115,752. Translated, the on-track handle at Gulfstream this year in 2003 is off by 5.2% as compared to January of 2001. (The sizeable difference in the number races resulted from no January MONDAY racing in 2003)

Using the same per race handle stats, the 2001 instate(Florida) off track handle on GP was $37,868 per race while in January of 2003 it is now $43,104. The out-of-state handle in 2001 it was $684,855 per race while in 2003 it at $700,344 per race for January.

So maybe the Stronach management thinks that by restricting the WEB availability will cause more people to vacation in Florida and come on track thus strengthening the "on-track" numbers.off

I, for one, will not pay one red cent in any form, including opening different wagering accounts, for the "luxury" of getting to watch races. There are too many tracks as alternatives to those who keep there signal to themselves. I also will not bet any track where I can't see the damn post parades and races.

I'm with you CJ. I just posted a reply on the Del Mar fan forum concerning the same subject.
And the tracks wonder why they are losing business????????:(

Just for the record, I clicked on my Media Player link when I got home, and Santa Anita came right up in real time. Haven't been to the site, is the link gone from there?

Not only is racing wagering down all over,
the horse sales are down as well. And you are unhappy customer. When will the y learn who the customers are?

Went Gulfstream Park twice this last month. The first time the place was dirty, the second time it wasn't any cleaner than the first.

Earlier I posted the Gulfstream comparisons of Jan.2003 vs. Jan.2001. Here are the NYRA at Aqueduct comparisons for that same time period;(all figures from EQUIBASE and include only comingled money)
Aqu-Jan2003-225 races
Aqu-Jan2001-258 races
Aqu-2003 per race on-track handle-$ 89,846
Aqu-2001 per race on-track handle-$ 92,044

Aqu-2003 per race instate/off track-$268,780
Aqu-2001 per race instate/off track-$270,090

Aqu-2003 per race out of state- $514,627
Aqu-2001 per race out of state- $442,503

And for those interested the full year of 2002 at NYRA as compared to the full year of 2001 NYRA resulted in:
NYRA-2002-2348 races
NYRA-2001-2368 races
NYRA-2002 per race on-track handle-$155,425
NYRA-2001 per race on-track handle-$158,953
translated -2.2%

NYRA-2002 per race instate/off track-$338,119
NYRA-2001 per race instate/off track-$330,544
translated +2.3%

NYRA-2002 per race out of state- $661,683
NYRA-2001 per race out of state- $623,164

I tried several times to transfer my YouBet account over to ExpressBet. YouBet wold tell me one thing and EX would tell somethiong totally different. Bottom line, I was never able to activate the accont and could care less anymore. If I can't watch the video......FREE...I have no interest in betting the track.
The powers that be in the racing industry will never, ever have to worry about hemeroids or colon polyps- not with their collective heads so far up there. Magna has it's head so far up, it is almost back where it belongs.
TomCat..I was at GP years ago and I thought it was a dump back then. I will accept cockraoches at Batavia Downs, but not at a "premier?" track.

ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE ANIMALS RUNNING ACROSS THE FLOOR, OR THE ONES RUMMAGING THROUGH THE GARBAGE PAILS, LOOKING FOR A WINNING TICKET?????

I agree I will only bet tracks that will provide a video feed that I can watch. I cannot see either what they have to gain by limiting who can see their feed.

Right. The "live video" from the home page takes you to a page that speaks to seeing XpressBet video and offers a sign-up link. I guess that you can sign-up (I have an account so it's not a problem for me) and not deposit any money and still get the video. Right now XB has no extraneous charges....but, the screws are tightening!

Anyone interested in the link and doesn't want to sign up, shoot me an email.

All's well that ends well. I just read on the Derby List that the video at Santa Anita and Gulfstream website are being restored.

To bad MEC didn't restore the live video for Golden Gate.

I can not get the Video for Santa Anita or Golden Gate on Youbet.

I have Xpreesbet also. I'll use their video and bet through youbet.

I can't believe the garbage Magna is pulling. When Santa Anita and Gulfstream close in April, nobody will use Magna and maybe they will have to shut down their internet site.

Good luck
