I'd have to put Robert Klein & Lenny Bruce up at the top of my list. David Steinberg always had some nice stuff.

Currently, Jim Gaffigan has some decent material.

Sign of the times. That bum should be serving slushies somewhere.

I have a tough time with "one trick ponies". What would Chris Rock do without Black/White?

Better add Albert Brooks to my list.

Of the stand-ups not mentioned as of yet…

George Carlin
Robin Williams
Larry David
Jake Johansson
Rita Rudner
Steven Wright
Rodney Dangerfield had perfect timing.
I wouldn’t put these guys in the hall of fame for writing, but they are a scream after a few drinks at a club…Don Rickles & Pat Cooper.

Robin Williams and Whoopi Goldberg.

When Whoopi was doing "Fontaine," funny, funny, stuff.

Edit: And Ron White can be hilarious when not too crude.

Bill Hicks, like Hedberg, Kinison and Jeni died way too young.
Hicks videos can be found on Youtube as well, he wasn't liked that much by the Christian Right:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxsGyljd6B0&feature=related

Rodney Dangerfield had perfect timing.

What about Jack Benny and Groucho?

Redd Foxx? Bill Cosby? Buddy Hacket? And the guy (Lewis) that was on Carson's all the time that called every one a little cocker?

The fact that Lewis Black says he's a comedian is itself a joke.

Is Dane Cooke really a comedian?

Little men on horseback are some of the best comedians on the planet. In fact their stuff is so comical at times it can make a grown man cry.

I concur TOM. To steal from Gordon Jones if we did not have Tom, we'd have to invent him.

The Dice Man. The rudest and crudest of them all. I have to admit that I watched the following video and I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything at the time or it would have come out my nose:

I love the work of the late Bill Hicks. How about Don Rickles. That dude is still hilarious.

There used to be a guy that I liked to see back in the 80's, early 90's - Dennis Wolfberg. I believe that he may be deceased.

Johnny Carson was also a comic genius...great timing.

Dice Man: "Hickory, dickory, dock...." X-Rated nursery rhymes were a classic.

Oh gosh, I saw this guy recently that I thought was very good - Lewis Black.

Despite all the great ones past and present, I'll stick with Mr. Warmth for my top all-time comedian. HBO has run both a documentary and one of his shows. There is a clip of him at a roast. Sammy, Dean, Frank and Milton Berle were among those seated on the dias. Don ripped them all with great skill. It was classic.

I hadn't realized they roasted his Warmthness.

I must admit i've never found Sam Kinison funny, just loud. Rickles was on Howard Stern a few months back, and just in normal conversation he was hilarious. The guy is a true entertainer. and there arent many of those left.

I used to watch the Dean Martin roasts every week. That one brought back great memories and it is great to wake up and laugh so much in the morning. Thanks.

What about Groucho?
Absolutely one of the kings…I was just thinking in terms of pure stand-up.

W.C. Fields is also 1st ballad hall of fame in many comedic categories. As far as timing in cinema when he was given some form of comedy…Cary Grant was perfect.

Two that I haven't seen mentioned are Bob Newhart (best clean material ever) and Woody Allen. Back before he started making movies his stand-up stuff was incredible. For old timers not mentioned, Red Skelton and George Gobel

LENNY BRUCE.....he had a great routine called The Palladium although he never did the same show twice. He was persecuted for nothing compared to the trash that is seen today.
