Opened some old boxes and this fell out. Before I was born.
The "sea of color" that late afternoon breezes would pick up through the grandstands is a part of racing I really miss.

i liked the feel of the old tickets...what i don't miss is the longer lines ...the time it took to punch out those exacta boxes, part wheels...could you imagine the chaos punching superfectas..pick 3-4-6

Reminds me of the rush I got the first time I bought a ticket at Roosevelt Raceway back in 19 badaboom.

The prettiest sound in the world was the rubber stamp hitting the back of a fist full of tickets. Oh how I would love to hear that thump..thump...thump...thump...thump..thump...thum p...again!

That is nice, would frame it or something. I love the old printing styles, the engraved look.

Thanks for the post 46. I think that is great. I agree with the others. Frame that and if nothing else enjoy it for yourself everyday.

I suspect you've hit on why the ticket wasn't cashed. :D

My dad had a couple of collages made from betting tickets, programs and admission tickets.
Here's one from Evangeline Downs from 1969:

Here's a closer look:

If anyone is interested in having one of these, just pay the shipping, and it's yours!
I love the color and feel of those old tickets, too. Another sea of color that I miss fluttering past on the breeze are the old tout sheets - Jack's Little Green Card, Tab, etc. There was an orange one that I can't remember the name of. Used to love how, at Monmouth, you could find piles of them as you were leaving, right where the flagpole is.

In the 90's, long after they had gone to those thermal things, I was walking in to Santa Anita one morning & found one of those red $5 tickets in the parking lot.
Where it came from I have no idea.

There are such a wide variety of totes it is amazing. When I wrote an article about wagering tickets for a Canadian T-bred magazine, I contacted American Totalisator and they sent me test sets of some of what I call "yardstick" totes: long trifecta, superperfecta key totes that were about as wide as a old Daily Double "stubbie" but about 6 inches long. Yellow, pink, green brown with the track name a race code on each in different colored ink.
