Secretariat's odds were not 2-5. I think he paid 5 something. Reason: He lost his race prior to the Derby to his stablemate Angle Lite. Does anyone know Sham's Derby time?

I don't see anything from this year's bunch that seems capable of cracking that list. But then I surely wouldn't have predicted War Emblem and Funny Cide in February of their years. I notice four straight years of Top 10's (2000-2003), none since;; kind of has the effect of making the older ones stand out even more than they already do.

I wonder if Derby Day track doctoring strategies are being affected by having more starters prepping on synthetics.
