Where did you get it, Dave?

Sorry I omitted that - it is at Gamblers Book Club on their new arrivals list. It looks like there is an electronic version (but not book form) at amazon - I didn't see that before.

I found where Dave got it so cheap:

I like the title of the 1st chapter!

not too impressed.

Yeah, I liked the title to the first chapter, but there was nothing there of substance.

books nowadays are passe, what you need to do to find profound discoveries in handicapping is to have a database of say the last two years of races

I will make this short.

I read only one-half of the book (which should tell you a lot).

Perhaps all the best stuff was in the back of the book.

If Mr. Schwartz couldn't make it through the whole book, then it must not be too good. Dave is the "Mikey" of horse racing literature: he'll read anything.

Okay, so I finished reading the entire book and I think my review deserves a little re-write.

In the beginning of this book, the author says that it is aimed at "novices and losing players."

For that audience, I would have to say that this book could improve their lot and they might pick up some things to help them. The author is obviously knowledgeable about horses.

Of course, most posters here fall into a much higher category of player. I doubt that such a player would find his time well-spent in this book.

If you DO fall into the category of novice, then I'd suggest looking at the chapter on "Angles." While there is no single angle in this book which will turn a loser into a winner (if such a thing even exists), it does ground one in some basic concepts (i.e. betdowns, lasix, stretching out, etc.).
