Mitchell Fink and Andy Serling present the $5,000 prize
money check to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation

Handicapper Andy Serling, who hosts the "Playing to Win" webcast on Youbet.com won a recent handicapping contest sponsored by New York City OTB and donated his $5,000 prize money to the TRF.

Serling was pitted against 17 other handicappers in a contest called "Heads Up Handicapping." By amassing the largest mythical bankroll, he came out on top in the crowded field.

"You got to pick a charity of your choice and I wanted to keep it horse related, so I picked the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation," Serling said. "I want to thank OTB. I was thrilled that I had an opportunity to use my horseplaying skills to benefit the racing industry as opposed to just myself."

Congrats on the win and a homerun for the retired thoughbreds.5k is a handsome donation but just a drop in the bucket on what it takes to feed and care for these horses that gave people pleasure wherever they raced.Very generous of you to donate this. There will be a few more fat bellies. Thankyou!

Thanks everyone.

It's funny......I was actually literally a last minute replacement when one of the contestants got sick and couldn't make it. They scraped the bottom of the barrel, but the good news is that the horses that need our help, if possible, ended up benefiting.

Thanks again.

Good to see you put your money in a good place. I think there are some who's only concern for these animals is who crossed the wire first!

Good for you and for OTB in doing this contest for charity. Glad to see that the hard knockers who race their hearts out will be taken care of better thru your generosity and the TRF.

Maybe all handicapping tournaments should have a mandatory 1/2 % of purse go to each of the TRF and the Disabled Jockeys fund.

Do you call that "non-profit" or "not-for-profit" horseplaying? ;)

Thanks for the followup, Andy.

Say, didn't she win the BC Turf some years back ? :bang:

My qualifications:

On the basketball court, I'm small, BUT ... I'm also slow.

In the bedroom, I'm short, BUT ... I'm also skinny.

On the track, I'm a stalker ... no, wait. Do NOT tell her that, maybe.

I won't blow my own horn. I'll let my doctor's words speak: "Mr. L., you're an impotent man." Yep, he SAID that. Aw, shucks.
