I'll admit being from Ny keeps me out of that scene the majority of the season. But I do seem to remember speed holding up alot better on the old surfaces. First it was Hollywood now Santa Anita. It's my guess that the SA track will be resurfaced at the end of this disasterous meet.

IMO it appears as if speed going long seems to be a nice angle during the limited number of events thus far....... Ghosttrapper had only run the route once before and he was able to go wire to wire and widen his advantage in the stretch.

not so sure that Ghostrapper is a good example

He fit very well within that field he drew.

But I agree that speed has been taken down a notch. At least it seemed that way on Saturday. It seemed fair to me.
